Eve
Of all my paintings, this one definitely elicits the most reactions. One of the ideas that I revisit often in my work is that of dichotomies - particularly of man/machine, organic/digital, tangible/intangible. I usually don't bother with titles for my paintings - most of them were thought up the day before my senior show at UVA. I do like the title for this one though - of Eve both as the Biblical figure as well as the word meaning the dawn of something new. For me, the imagery in this painting signifies the monumental transformations & temptations of the 21st century - in how we live, love and sustain ourselves and our ways of life. I often wonder about what we as a society are losing in the name of 'progress'.
